Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu commended Saudi Arabia’s leadership in uniting Muslim nations at an international summit, applauding the Kingdom’s recent initiatives to “galvanize international support and build consensus toward ending violence” in Palestine.
President Muizzu underscored Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to justice, saying, “The Kingdom’s efforts to forge a Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution demonstrate a profound dedication to justice and self-determination for the Palestinian people.”
In his address, President Muizzu highlighted the human toll of the conflict. “Nearly 50,000 Palestinians and thousands more in Lebanon have been killed in the past year alone,” he said, painting a stark picture of the devastation. “Each death is a tragedy. Families torn apart. Children orphaned and alone. Dreams buried under rubble. Futures vanished.” He added, “We cannot continue like this. Our statements, our condemnations have rung hollow.”
President Muizzu sharply criticized the United States and its allies, saying their inaction perpetuates the crisis. “The actions of powerful nations,” he stated, “suggest they do not recognize that the lives of Palestinians are as valuable as other human lives. Their silence and inaction enable Israel’s brutal occupation and apartheid to persist.”
He called on Muslim and Arab nations to unite under Saudi Arabia’s leadership to address Palestinian suffering.
“As the leader of the Islamic world, Saudi Arabia has shown the way forward by championing unity and solidarity,” he said. “Now, it is incumbent upon all Muslim and Arab nations to work together to push for meaningful change.”
President Muizzu also urged the UN Security Council to halt arms sales to Israel. “We cannot call for peace while supplying the weapons of war,” he said, condemning Israel’s dismantling of UNRWA, a lifeline for Palestinian refugees, and calling for continued international support for the agency.
The Maldives, he noted, has been proactive, contributing $1.2 million in aid to Palestine and backing legal actions at the International Court of Justice. Urging other nations to follow suit, President Muizzu concluded, “If we, as an Ummah, do not act decisively now, history will judge us harshly.”
Reiterating the urgency, President Muizzu ended by challenging the global community—especially Muslim nations—to transform their commitment to justice into decisive action, underscoring Saudi Arabia’s leadership as pivotal to advancing peace in Palestine.
