The Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development has launched a new digital platform designed to modernize and strengthen the services offered to students. The Higher Education Management System was inaugurated at a ceremony attended by Minister Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed.
Officials described the system as a major step toward improving the administration of the higher‑education sector. The platform is intended to provide students, parents and service providers with faster, more transparent access to essential information.
During the launch, students were shown how to navigate the system. A Maldivian student studying in Malaysia noted that the platform will ease many of the challenges faced by those studying abroad. He explained that students previously relied on email for most requests, which often caused delays, particularly when checking the status of loan payments.
The minister said the government has prioritized reliable and efficient education services. He acknowledged that delays in decision‑making and weaknesses in the previous system had created obstacles for students and families. The new platform, he said, will help address financial‑support issues and reduce long waiting periods for scholarship and funding decisions.
The initiative is part of the Maldives 2.0 program, which aims to digitize public services and improve government operations. Officials said the system will help prevent administrative delays and ensure that no student loses an educational opportunity due to procedural or financial barriers.
Dr. Haidar said the government hopes the platform will give Maldivian students a clearer path toward building their futures.
