Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched the Velana Awards, a new initiative designed to recognise the key partners of Velana International Airport (VIA) for their role in strengthening transport links, improving service quality and maintaining Malé as a leading destination for travellers and business visitors.

The awards, introduced for the first time this year, will honour airlines, cargo operators and lounge service providers that have contributed significantly to VIA’s performance and reputation.

A total of 22 awards will be presented across three main categories: Passenger Awards, Cargo Awards and Lounge Awards. In addition, a special accolade will be given to the Airline of the Year.

The inaugural Velana Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 12 February at Crossroads Maldives, where industry partners and aviation stakeholders will gather for the event.
