During today’s visit, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu toured several homes in Villimale, the satellite island of Male’, spending time with families and speaking with residents about their grievances. He also stopped to meet people on the streets, taking notes on issues raised.

Crowds gathered near the jetty to welcome him on arrival. The President spent time greeting supporters individually and listening to their concerns.

The President has continued his door to door visits in the capital, a practice he maintained weekly during his time as Mayor. In recent weeks he has spent long hours meeting residents across the city’s wards, listening to their views and concerns. Less than two years into his presidency, he has already visited every island in the country to meet communities directly.

He is now at the forefront of campaigning for Congress Party candidates in the upcoming local council and women’s development committee elections. Party officials say his involvement reflects the administration’s commitment to decentralisation, noting that no previous president has given this level of attention to local council polls.

He was accompanied by Moosa Ali Jaleel, the Congress Party’s candidate for Mayor of Malé City, and Al‑Ustaza Aishath Alaika Adnan, the party’s candidate for President of the Malé City Women’s Development Committee.
