Turnout Climbs Past 62% — Closing in on 2021 Levels as Counting Begins at Some Stations

Ballot boxes have been opened and counting has begun at several polling stations where voting has concluded, as today’s turnout passes 62 percent — approaching the 67 percent recorded in the 2021 local council elections.

The Election Commission says more than 62 percent of eligible voters have now cast their ballots in the referendum and the local council and Women’s Development Committee elections.

In comparison, the 2021 LCE saw 273,128 eligible voters, with 67 percent — around 182,995 people — turning out to vote.
