MALE’, — The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation (State Pharma) has announced plans to launch a dedicated online portal in September, allowing members of the public to track medicine availability and prices across pharmacies via smartphone.
The upcoming platform is designed to provide real-time updates on pharmaceutical stocks across State Pharma outlets, offering a digital solution to longstanding procurement and supply chain challenges experienced by patients seeking essential medications.
Dr Shah Mahir, Managing Director of State Pharma, emphasised that addressing recurring national drug shortages requires proactive demand forecasting and digital oversight.
To support the initiative, the corporation has completed the initial phase of deploying an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system along with an e-logistics platform.
“This new system will enable us to forecast the exact types and quantities of pharmaceuticals required across the nation,” Dr Shah said. “It ensures that high-quality, essential medicines remain consistently in stock and accessible to the public in the years ahead.”
Dr Shah added that advanced demand analytics would allow the state supply chain to establish better regional storage facilities across outer island communities, streamlining distribution and bringing essential health supplies closer to residents.
