Bank of Maldives Expands Reach with Seven New Branches

MALÉ — The Bank of Maldives (BML) has further extended its national footprint by inaugurating seven new branches, continuing its effort to make banking services more accessible to communities across the archipelago.

The new branches were officially opened by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during a ceremony held today at the ‘Youth Entrepreneurs Expo’ in Malé. The expansion covers the islands of Hoarafushi (Haa Alif Atoll), Kanditheemu (Shaviyani Atoll), Alifushi (Raa Atoll), Hinnavaru (Lhaviyani Atoll), Maamigili (Alif Dhaalu Atoll), Gemanafushi (Gaafu Alif Atoll), and Maavah (Laamu Atoll).

With these latest additions, BML now operates a total of 55 branches across 20 atolls, 17 of which have been established within the last two years.

BML’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, stated that the bank’s investments are strategically focused on broadening its community presence. He emphasised that the bank’s financial growth provides the opportunity to bring banking services closer to every citizen, thereby facilitating the financial needs of individuals and businesses alike.

The bank’s current infrastructure encompasses 55 branches, 340 ATMs, and an array of modern digital banking services distributed throughout the country.
