MALE’ — In a strategic move designed to reinforce accountability, enhance service delivery, and cultivate versatile leadership, the Bank of Maldives (BML) has unveiled a comprehensive restructuring of its organizational framework and executive team.

The sweeping changes, announced today, involve a series of strategic role rotations among four key senior executives over a six-month period. Under the new alignment:

  • Aishath Zamra Zahir steps into the role of Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Moosa Nimal assumes the position of Chief Marketing Officer.
  • Rashfa Jaufar takes over as Chief Risk Officer.
  • Gary Lawton takes charge as Chief Credit Officer.

BML Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef emphasized that the proactive restructuring builds upon the institution’s already robust financial health, positioning the bank for accelerated, sustainable growth while keeping the customer experience at the forefront.

“These temporary leadership rotations are an investment in strengthening our executive bench,” Shareef said. “Providing our seasoned leaders with cross-functional experience not only broadens their individual expertise but injects fresh perspective into the entire institution.”

Shareef noted that the initiative underscores BML’s deep confidence in its management team and highlights the bank’s long-term commitment to nurturing top-tier local talent across all levels of the organization.

While the internal re-alignment is engineered to optimize operational efficiency and long-term strategic agility, BML has assured customers that day-to-day banking operations will remain entirely uninterrupted. Existing products, services, and client workflows will see no changes as the bank implements its new structural vision.
