Former presidents Mohamed Nasheed and Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom are scheduled to visit GDh. Thinadhoo City on August 21.
The two political heavyweights will be in Thinadhoo to take part in official celebrations marking 60 years since the island was resettled.
Thinadhoo Mayor Saud Ali confirmed that invitations were extended to all former Maldivian presidents to join the anniversary events, but so far, only Yameen and Nasheed have accepted.
A lineup of community activities is planned across the city for the milestone occasion, including a float parade and an awards ceremony to honor individuals who have contributed to Thinadhoo’s development over the decades.
