News DeskIn a noteworthy development, Arab Contractors, one of Egypt’s oldest and largest international construction companies, has expressed keen interest in the construction of the Hithadoo-Hulhumeedhoo bridge in Addu City. The government made this announcement during a press conference held today.
Abdullah Nazim, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy, revealed that Egypt’s Arab Contractors company have conveyed their willingness to voluntarily conduct the initial survey for the bridge project. Acknowledging this expression of interest, the Economic Council has decided to collaborate with the company to carry out this crucial phase.
The Egyptian company’s extensive experience in international construction, particularly in the Middle East, positions it as a key player for the ambitious bridge project. Nazim highlighted the significance of this interest, emphasizing the company’s commitment to voluntarily undertake the survey, showcasing a proactive approach to the project.
During the inauguration ceremony of the Velana International Airport development project, the President affirmed the government’s commitment to prepare documents for a contractor to assess the bridge project. Once this assessment is complete, all necessary documents will be handed over to proceed with further stages of the project.
Connecting Hithadoo and Hulhumeedhoo through a bridge has been a campaign promise by President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, and progress on this commitment is now gaining momentum. Expressions of interest from various companies were particularly notable during the President’s recent trip to China at the Invest Maldives Forum in Fujian.
As discussions and collaborations unfold, Arab Contractors’ involvement adds a layer of expertise and international experience to the Addu City Bridge project, showcasing global interest and potential partnerships surrounding this significant infrastructure initiative.
