The Costa Serena, hailing from Cochin, India, made its grand entrance on January 8, 2024, marking the commencement of a promising year for the Maldivian tourism sector.
This Italian cruise liner, renowned for its luxury and opulence, carried over 2,000 eager travelers who had previously embarked on a journey that included stops in Mumbai and Goa before culminating in the pristine beauty of the Maldives. Anchored just outside Male’ City, the Costa Serena’s arrival has set a positive tone for the tourism industry.
According to the Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA), the Costa Serena’s visit has resulted in a substantial influx of arrivals, signifying a promising start to the year for the Maldivian tourism sector. This positive trend is expected to continue, as MAYA disclosed plans for an additional 14 cruise liner trips to the Maldives by May 2024, projecting an estimated tourist count exceeding 28,000.
