NEW DELHI,— The First Lady Sajidha Mohammed, commended India’s efforts in food safety during her visit to the headquarters of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in New Delhi. As part of President Mohamed Muizzu’s state visit to India, she took the opportunity to explore India’s laboratory ecosystems aimed at maintaining high food safety standards across the country.
In discussions with FSSAI officials, the first lady expressed particular interest in India’s grassroots-level initiatives, which she described as vital to ensuring the quality and safety of food consumed by millions. She was briefed on the comprehensive regulatory frameworks that oversee food safety, including India’s work with the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the international body for food standards.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India noted that the discussions between the First Lady and India’s representatives centered on food safety standards and regulatory frameworks, highlighting the importance of collaboration between nations in such critical areas.
While the First Lady engaged in food safety discussions in the capital, President Muizzu focused on business ties, continuing the Maldives’ efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with India.
