The government on Monday officially launched the “My Career Portal,” a single digital platform designed to connect job seekers, employers, and career advisors. The initiative aims to streamline the local employment market and tackle persistent skill mismatches across the nation. The platform was formally unveiled by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan during a special ceremony held at the Maldives Customs Service.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Ihusaan highlighted a major systemic issue currently facing the country’s workforce—young Maldivians pursuing qualifications in fields that lack actual job opportunities. He noted that many individuals end up forced to take positions completely unrelated to their education just to earn an income, leaving industries with high demand unable to find qualified local workers. Minister Ihusaan emphasized that while bridging the divide between job hunters and employers has been an ongoing priority, the country previously lacked a centralized, tech-driven solution.

The new initiative was developed by the National Career Service (NCS) under the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, with funding provided through the World Bank-assisted “SAILS” project. This development directly aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge to build a skilled local workforce under the broader “Maldives 2.0” vision.

To support users, the platform integrates several core features, including personalized Career Guidance that connects job seekers with trained counselors to establish professional action plans. It also features a Career Pathway Designer offering expert-backed visual roadmaps for long-term progression, alongside a Milestone Tracker that consolidates an individual’s education, training, and work history to identify remaining skill gaps. Finally, an automated Job Matching system provides tailored recommendations based on user skills, centralizes job listings, and streamlines the application process.

Job seekers and employers can now access these services online by visiting the official portal at www.mycareer.gov.mv.
