The Maldives is set to host two major international economic gatherings for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) from August 23 to 25 at the Barceló Nasandhura Hotel in Malé.

The dual events—the “SIDS Global Business Network Forum 2026” and the “Island Investment Forum”—will bring together island delegates, private sector leaders, and development partners to tackle shared economic and investment challenges across small island nations.

Organised under the broader umbrella of SIDS international initiatives, the Global Business Network Forum has been held every two years since its inception during the third International Conference on Small Island Developing States in 2014.

The upcoming gathering follows the major once-in-a-decade SIDS global conference, where the Maldives played a central role, serving as co-chair of the preparatory committee, taking part in key panel discussions, and hosting high-level side events.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport & Trade, hosting both forums underscores Malé’s push to lead regional discourse on sustainable investment, private sector partnerships, and economic resilience for island economies.
