Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has resigned from his post as Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto, marking yet another movement through the administration’s political revolving door.
A senior government official confirmed Nazim’s departure. Appointed at ministerial rank in early June, the specific grounds for his resignation have not been formally disclosed by the administration.
Nazim’s career trajectory offers a textbook example of the fluid executive reshuffling that has defined President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s tenure. He entered the administration in November 2023 as Principal Secretary for Public Policy at the President’s Office, before being elevated to the cabinet as Minister of Health in September 2024.
He held the health portfolio until 6 April 2026, when he resigned alongside nine other ministers following the ruling coalition’s poor performance in the local council elections. Just two months after that exit, he was rotated back into the President’s Office to direct policy and manifesto implementation, a post he held until his departure today.
Rather than signaling a complete exit from public life, Nazim’s resignation fits a clear pattern within the administration, where high-profile figures cycle out of cabinet and executive offices only to emerge in new government roles down the line.
