New Radiant Sports Club has officially announced the launch of its new football academy, unveiling the club’s technical director and outlining an ambitious development model aimed at nurturing young talent across the country.
At a press conference, the club introduced its new technical director, Coach André, and confirmed that the academy’s structure and training philosophy will be developed under his supervision.
Club chairman Ahmed Mubeen said New Radiant is prioritising the formation of youth teams across multiple age groups as part of its long‑term strategy.
“Coach André has been working with us for a month. Equipment and kits have arrived, and we have now opened applications for players to join the academy,” Mubeen said.
Mubeen said the academy will follow a European football model, with dedicated grassroots programmes and separate training sessions for boys and girls. The academy will also offer personal training opportunities, with the aim of identifying talented players and elevating them to higher levels of competition.
He added that the club is in the process of bringing in an experienced coach from Spain, who will serve as the academy’s head coach under André’s supervision. The club is also seeking Maldivian coaches to work alongside the technical team.
“Another Spanish coach is being brought in as head coach. He will work under the technical director, and we are also looking for a Maldivian coach,” Mubeen said.
The academy is open to the public, with separate pathways for boys and girls. Mubeen said the goal is to build strong future squads and support the growth of both men’s and women’s football in the Maldives.
He described the project as a completely new style of academy for the country, noting that its structure is based on research and will introduce training concepts not currently used in other Maldivian academies.
Training programmes have already begun in Male’, Hulhumalé and Villimalé, and preparations are underway to launch sessions in Nilandhoo and GDh. Thinadhoo.
