Opposition MDP President Abdulla Shahid met with a group of young people last night to discuss the country’s current political landscape alongside growing economic and social hurdles.

Taking to social media platform X after the meeting, the former Foreign Minister insisted that any nation looking to move forward must first listen to its youth.

“Young people bring the vision, mindset, and practical drive needed to change things, powered by modern tools and skills,” Shahid said, noting that last night’s discussion made that potential clear.

The meeting focused heavily on the challenges young Maldivians face amidst ongoing economic pressures and shifting political dynamics across the country.
