MALE’ — Zeenaaz Adnan, wife of former cabinet minister Adam Shareef Umar, has been appointed State Minister at the Ministry of Health, according to information obtained by eTruth.

Zeenaaz was appointed to the post on 4 June and began reporting for work on 7 June. The President’s Office website, which previously listed the names and details of state ministers and deputy ministers across government, has since been updated to remove that information.

Adam Shareef resigned abruptly from the cabinet on 14 April, as President Muizzu was announcing changes to government following the ruling PNC’s poor performance in the local council elections. He was subsequently appointed Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry on 27 April. The President has since forwarded his name to parliament for confirmation as Maldives Ambassador to Qatar.
