The State Pharmaceutical and Medical Supply Corporation has introduced a new hotline and digital portal designed to make it easier for people across the Maldives to access prescription drugs and essential medical supplies.

The service, announced by the corporation’s managing director Dr Shah Abdullah Mahir, allows the public to check the status of medicines, place orders and monitor delivery in real time. The hotline number, 1505, will operate around the clock. The new “Statepharma” portal is open to users nationwide.

Dr Mahir said the aim is to ensure that people receive the medicines they need in a reliable and convenient manner. He noted that the previous system required lengthy forms and multiple documents, often delaying access to essential drugs. Under the new process, individuals can log in through their Efaas account, upload the prescription, make the payment online and receive confirmation within 48 hours.

“We are introducing a portal to check the status of prescription drugs,” he said. “Our priority is to provide medicines to the people in a sustainable and convenient manner.”

He added that preparations are under way for the government to take over STO‑run pharmacies in the country by mid‑year, as part of wider reforms to strengthen supply chains.

The corporation said the hotline will also assist those seeking urgent medical consumables. Dr Mahir encouraged the public to call 1505 or use the portal whenever they need help obtaining essential medicines.

The initiative forms part of the administration’s broader effort to modernise health services and reduce delays in the distribution of prescription drugs across the islands.
