President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has submitted his asset declaration dated 18 May 2026, disclosing his income, property, bank balances and liabilities as required under Maldivian law.
According to the declaration, Muizzu earned MVR 285,024 (USD 18,484) in salary over the past six months. He also received MVR 240,000 (USD 15,564) in rental income from a row house in Hulhumale and MVR 180,000 (USD 11,673) described as money from family at a property referred to as M. Fig house.
His wife, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, earned MVR 78,000 (USD 5,058) in salary from Dhimyath PVT LTD, a guesthouse in operation, and MVR 4,927 (USD 320) as a consultant at the Ministry of Health during the same period. She also receives a spousal allowance of MVR 199,999.98 (USD 12,970) under existing law.
On assets, the declaration lists a row house in Hulhumale valued at MVR 5,919,500 (USD 383,885), a car valued at MVR 260,000 (USD 16,863) and land on ancestral Vashafaru island valued at MVR 150,000 (USD 9,728). Inherited land at M. Dhimyath and M. Fig is also listed, with no monetary value assigned to either.
His bank balances on the date of declaration stood at MVR 184,845 (USD 11,988) in a BML current account, MVR 1,701,470 (USD 110,342) in a BML savings account and MVR 1,000 (USD 65) in a MIB savings account, bringing total declared bank holdings to MVR 1,887,315 (USD 122,395).
On liabilities, Muizzu declares an outstanding loan of MVR 1,319,265 (USD 85,555) owed to Maldives Finance and Leasing Company. The First Lady has no declared loans.
The declaration carries the official seal of the President’s Office. At present, only the asset declarations of the President and Vice President are publicly visible on the President’s Office website. Asset declarations by senior public officials are a legal requirement in the Maldives, intended to ensure transparency and accountability in public life.
