President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to expanding ties with Beijing, calling China a crucial and steadfast partner in the development journey of the Maldives.
Extending warm greetings to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the government, and the citizens of China on their 77th National Day, President Muizzu highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations, built on mutual trust and shared respect.
“China is a key and steadfast partner in the Maldives’ development journey. The relationship between our two countries continues to open up meaningful and abundant opportunities for both our peoples,” President Muizzu said in a message posted on social media.
The President assured that the government remains dedicated to elevating bilateral cooperation and strengthening strategic ties to new heights, while wishing China continued progress and prosperity.
Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef also sent greetings marking the occasion, extending best wishes to Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and the people of China. The Vice President noted that relations between Male and Beijing have reached new heights over recent years and expressed confidence that mutual trust between the two countries will deepen further in the coming years.
China marks its National Day on 1 October, commemorating the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. The Maldives and China formally established diplomatic relations on 14 October 1972.
