Customs Seizes MVR 6 Million Worth of Hash Oil from Air Passenger

MALE’ — Maldives Customs Service has seized 8,490 grams of hashish oil worth more than MVR 6 million from a passenger who arrived by air on Tuesday.

The passenger was stopped and searched after customs officers grew suspicious. The suspect has been handed over to police for investigation. No further details about the individual were released.

It is the second significant airport drug seizure in recent weeks. On 24 May, customs intercepted 941 grams of methamphetamine being smuggled in by air, valued at more than MVR 1.8 million.
