MALE’ — A police officer has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing his own child, the Maldives Police Service confirmed Wednesday.
The suspect, a 49-year-old Maldivian man, was arrested on Sunday under a court order. Police said he was suspended without pay from the date the case was reported.
A court remanded him in custody for 30 days when he was brought before a judge.
Police did not release the officer’s name or rank.
