UKULHAS  — President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed arrived on the island of Ukulhas in Alif Alif Atoll today to grace the inauguration of a symposium gathering audit institutions from Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Upon landing at the harbor, the President and First Lady were received with a warm welcome by local residents and symposium delegates.

The three-day conference, titled the “SIDS-SAI Symposium,” commenced yesterday and is jointly organised by the Maldivian Office of the Auditor General alongside the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). President Muizzu is scheduled to deliver a keynote address during a special ceremony held later today.

The primary objective of the symposium is to strengthen the auditing capacity of supreme audit institutions across small island nations as they track progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Roughly 80 delegates representing audit offices from various nations are participating in the event.

Today’s sessions are set to center on the critical role audit bodies play in national climate change adaptation efforts, alongside discussions aimed at accelerating the digitalisation of governance systems.
