A delegation of 25 Maldivian police officers has departed for China to participate in a specialized law enforcement and counter-terrorism seminar hosted by the China People’s Police University (CPPU).
The program, titled “Seminar on Law Enforcement and Counter-Terrorism,” is taking place in Hebei province, China, running from Friday through September 17.
Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Rashwan is leading the Maldivian delegation. The contingent includes one Superintendent of Police, five Chief Inspectors, and 18 Inspectors of Police.
According to Maldives Police Service, the seminar aims to strengthen operational capacity in combating terrorism, with a focus on developing digital skills, utilizing IT tools, and enhancing intelligence-led policing strategies.
Participating officers will receive hands-on training in early threat detection, risk assessment, rapid decision-making, and scene control during critical incidents. The curriculum also covers security management for major events and public gatherings, alongside collaborative tactics to identify and respond to cross-border terrorist activities.
