Former Hithadhoo North MP Mohamed Sinan, who lost his seat in the People’s Majlis due to unpaid debts, has been appointed Managing Director of Agro National Corporation (AgroNet).
The appointment follows the removal of former MD Hussain Didi. In a concurrent leadership restructuring, Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) Managing Director Mohamed Anas has been appointed as Chairman of the AgroNet Board. The move aligns with the government’s ongoing restructuring efforts to streamline state-owned enterprises, bringing AgroNet under MIFCO’s oversight.
Sinan’s tenure in the People’s Majlis came to an abrupt end after the Supreme Court ruled that he lost his parliamentary seat for failing to clear settled debt obligations as required by law. Despite his disqualification from elected office, Sinan has now been handed executive control of the state’s flagship agricultural logistics and supply enterprise.
