Former President Abdulla Yameen’s ultimate goal is to seize power by any means necessary, but his only option for ruling in the future will be from his sitting room, according to ruling PNC Parliamentary Group Leader Ibrahim Falah.

Falah, who also serves as the MP for the Inguraidhoo constituency, launched a scathing attack on the former president in a post on X on Tuesday. He questioned whether Yameen still believed he could manipulate the Maldivian public, alleging that the former leader’s primary objective remains looting the state treasury.

Falah accused Yameen of siphoning billions of Rufiyaa from state coffers over a five-year period and exploiting legal loopholes to launder the money.

Directing particular criticism at Yameen’s business dealings, the PNC parliamentary leader pointed to financial records concerning a garage operated by Yameen’s private company, R. Hankure Ahmed Abdulla and Company. According to the figures cited by Falah, the garage generated MVR 458,347,180.29 in revenue over five years.

“There is no more lucrative or brilliant business in the Maldives than running a garage,” Falah remarked, highlighting the staggering revenue figures.
