Dhiraagu Celebrates Graduation of Digital Apprenticeship Program, Reaffirms CSR Commitment

In a ceremony today, Dhiraagu, the fastest mobile network in the Maldives, marked a significant milestone with the graduation of its Digital Apprenticeship Program. Thirteen individuals were honored, underscoring the company’s dedication to nurturing local talent and fostering societal development.

The event, graced by Homeland Security and Technology Minister Ali Ihsan, highlighted Dhiraagu’s commitment to empowering youth through skill development programs. Minister Ihsan commended the initiative for its pivotal role in creating opportunities for the country’s young population.

During the ceremony, Minister Ihsan applauded Dhiraagu’s ongoing efforts, acknowledging the company’s dedication to building a skilled workforce. Dhiraagu’s CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the significance of youth empowerment within the framework of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

Rasheed stated, “Empowering and providing opportunities for youth is a core objective of Dhiraagu’s CSR program. Such initiatives contribute to creating an inclusive and sustainable ‘Digital Maldives.'”

As part of the ceremony, certificates of enrollment were presented to the 14th batch of apprenticeship participants, consisting of 21 individuals. Dhiraagu’s apprenticeship program, initiated in 2009, holds a special place in the company’s CSR efforts as the first corporate apprenticeship initiative in the country. To date, 268 young individuals have benefited from this pioneering program.

Since joining the United Nations Global Compact in 2012, Dhiraagu has annually assessed its environmental and social performance, demonstrating transparency through separate Corporate Social Responsibility Reports. The latest report, encapsulating the company’s commitment to sustainability, can be found in the “Sustainable Tomorrow” section of Dhiraagu’s Annual Report.
