MALE’, Maldives — Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the Maldives today for a state visit, marking his first trip to the Indian Ocean nation since securing a third term in office.

The visit, at the invitation of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, underscores the deepening ties between New Delhi and Male’ as they celebrate the 60th anniversary of independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

PM Modi’s arrival was met with a ceremonial welcome, reflecting the Maldives’ recognition of India as a key partner in its economic and security architecture. The two leaders are expected to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade, infrastructure, and maritime security.
