Maldives and India Launch Community Development Projects

MALE’, Maldives — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated six community development projects across the Maldives’ outer islands on Friday, alongside a completed road project in Addu City. Funded by an Indian credit line, the initiatives include youth centres, open-air gyms, a volleyball court, and a fish processing plant, aimed at fostering local resilience and sustainable development.

Reinforcing development at the community level, the leaders inaugurated six High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs), financed through grant assistance from India. These include:

– Outdoor Gym at S. Hithadhoo Rasgedhara
– Outdoor Gym at S. Hithadhoo Beyrumathi
– Outdoor Gym at GDh. Vaadhoo
– Youth centre at GA. Gemanafushi
– Volleyball court at Sh. Kanditheemu
– Small-scale fish processing plant at S. Hithadhoo
