The Ministry of Social and Family Development, together with Maldives Polytechnic, has launched a set of specialized training programs aimed at improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Twenty‑two participants have enrolled in the first round.

The initiative offers Level 3 certificate courses in photography and art skills. Instructors have adapted both teaching and assessment methods to meet the specific needs of the trainees.

The photography course includes hands‑on training in camera use, lighting and photo‑editing techniques. Participants in the art program will learn drawing and creative work using a range of tools and materials.

Officials said the goal is to strengthen technical skills and increase productivity among people with disabilities. The six‑month program will award a Level 3 certificate recognized by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.

The government has made disability empowerment a priority, expanding access to social and economic opportunities. A separate employment‑support program for people with disabilities is also underway.
