More than 350 applications have been submitted for the upcoming National Innovation Expo 2026, marking a significant surge in interest compared to previous iterations, according to the Business Center Corporation (BCC).

The national exhibition—designed to showcase the work of Maldivian artisans, small and medium enterprises, digital creators, and inventors—has already surpassed last year’s total of 240 participants.

Organisers have opened registration across 16 primary sectors and 73 sub-categories, covering a broad range of local goods and services. The submission deadline is set for 31 August, ahead of the main event scheduled to run from 23 to 31 October.

Eligibility extends to Maldivian citizens aged 13 and above, locally registered businesses, state-owned enterprises, educational institutions, local councils, and individuals with disabilities.

The expanded format aligns with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s designation of 2026 as the “Year of Innovation”, with the BCC framing the event as a primary commercial launchpad for local creators. Applications are being processed online via the official portal at expo.mv.
