President extends Independence Day greetings to the President and the Prime Minister of India

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sent Independence Day greetings to India’s leaders on Thursday, calling the country a “trusted development partner” of the Maldives.

In a message posted on X, President Muizzu congratulated President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian government and its people, expressing hope that the celebrations would honor “the spirit and achievements of the Indian people.”

He noted what he described as growing high-level exchanges and closer people-to-people ties between the two nations, saying they reflected the depth of their cooperation.

The Maldives and India are marking 60 years of diplomatic relations this year.
