President Muizzu Extends Pakistan Day Felicitations to President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has extended felicitations to the government and people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day, sending separate letters to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

In his message to President Zardari, President Muizzu expressed confidence that the long‑standing friendship between the Maldives and Pakistan will continue to strengthen. He said both countries share aspirations for progress, noting that cooperation has grown steadily across bilateral and international platforms.

Writing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the President highlighted the importance the Maldives places on its brotherly ties with Pakistan. He recalled that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1966, the two nations have maintained close and constructive engagement. He said the partnership has been reinforced by enduring goodwill between the peoples of both countries and by a shared commitment to solidarity within the Muslim Ummah.

The President also underscored the common faith and mutual commitment to development that have shaped relations over the decades.
He conveyed his personal best wishes for the good health of both leaders and for continued peace and prosperity for the people of Pakistan.

Pakistan Day is marked annually on 23 March to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940.
