MALE’ — President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has called on Maldivians to hold fast to Islamic principles and preserve the customs and traditions of the country, delivering the message in his Eid al-Adha address to the nation.
The President said Eid al-Adha carries profound lessons and wisdom, uniting the Muslim Ummah through a lasting example of compassion that begins at the plains of Arafat and reaches every corner of the world.
President Muizzu directed a particular message at the younger generation, saying they should understand that the true spirit of the festival lies in recognising the happiness of those who are poor and alone as their own.
“The true jewel of Eid is to adorn oneself with the pure garment of piety and renew one’s resolve to uphold the path of religion and truth,” he said.
The President described the unity fostered by Eid as a powerful foundation for peace and stability across the country. He also spoke of Eid as a season for forgiveness and for strengthening bonds with family and loved ones.
