Russia and Maldives Discuss Strengthening Legal Cooperation

MALÉ, Maldives — Aleksei Idamkin, the Consul General of Russia in Malé, held a meeting with Uz. Abbas Shareef, the Prosecutor General of the Maldives, to explore avenues for enhanced bilateral collaboration. The discussions, described as warm and engaging, focused on deepening ties in legal matters, capacity-building, and related initiatives.

The meeting, held at PG office in Malé, underscored both nations’ commitment to fostering stronger partnerships in judicial and legal frameworks. The Prosecutor General’s office expressed appreciation for the dialogue, emphasizing its potential to pave the way for future cooperation. “We thank Mr. Aleksei Idamkin for the warm and engaging discussion,” a statement from the office said. “Exploring avenues for future collaboration in legal and capacity-building efforts is truly valuable to us.”

This exchange reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Russia and the Maldives. Both sides expressed optimism about building on this foundation to address shared challenges, such as transnational crime, and promote mutual interests in the legal sphere.
