Malé — President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced a nationwide salary increase for civil service employees, council staff, and members of the judiciary, describing the move as a key step toward improving the lives of public sector workers.

Speaking at the 57th Republic Day ceremony held at the Social Centre, President Muizzu said the revised pay structure took effect on November 1. Employees are expected to see the impact in their upcoming pay checks.

“The hard work of civil service employees should always be appreciated,” President Muizzu said. “They are the army that runs the country.”

The president emphasized that the primary goal of the reform is to raise the basic salary across the board, with other allowances adjusted accordingly. He described the initiative as part of the government’s broader commitment to equity and recognition for public service.

President Muizzu also addressed concerns about potential disparities in the new pay structure. He assured that any issues would be resolved in coordination with the Pay Commissioner and relevant institutions.

“If any employee has concerns, the responsible authorities will work with the Pay Commissioner to address them in the coming days,” he said.

The president reiterated that improving the welfare of government employees remains a top priority for his administration.
