A record number of tourists arrived in the country on Saturday, according to new figures released by the Ministry of Tourism. The ministry reported that 11,136 visitors entered the country that day — the highest daily total so far this year.
According to the ministry’s latest Daily Update, 349,990 tourists have visited the Maldives to date, a 7 per cent increase compared with the 325,277 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
Current trends show the country receiving an average of 8,943 visitors per day. This month has already produced several record‑breaking days for arrivals.
On 8 February, 10,462 tourists entered the country, while 10,253 arrivals were recorded on 1 February.
China remains the Maldives’ largest source market, with 49,704 visitors so far this year.
Russia follows with just over 40,000 arrivals, while Italy ranks third with 34,320 visitors.
Tourist arrivals have risen sharply over the past year. The Maldives welcomed 2.2 million visitors in 2025, and the government has set a target of attracting 2.5 million tourists in 2026.
