The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off tonight, and if you are in Hulhumale’, you do not need to watch it alone at home. HDC and PSM have set up large screens at three locations across the island so fans can gather and watch the matches together, free of charge.
Here is where to go:
Phase 1 — Central Park The main public park in Phase 1. Plenty of open and green space, easy to get to, and a good spot for families and larger groups.
Phase 1 — Hedhikaa tent near Flat 137 A more neighbourhood feel. If you are already in that part of Phase 1, this is your closest option.
Phase 2 — Raodha Market tent area, in front of Vinares Tower 9 The Phase 2 option for residents on that side of Hulhumale’. The market tent area gives it a bit of atmosphere.
All three venues are free and open to everyone. HDC says the locations were chosen to accommodate large crowds comfortably.
Tonight’s opening match between Mexico and South Africa kicks off at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City in the early hours of Thursday morning, Maldives time. PSM’s TVM and Yes TV will carry the opening ceremony and pre-show live.
The World Cup runs until 19 July.
