In a significant political development, Member of Parliament Rozaina Adam, a prominent figure within the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), has lost her bid for the Feydhoo North constituency in today’s MDP primary elections. The newly created constituency saw fierce competition among three candidates, with Rozaina unable to secure the coveted ticket for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Rozaina Adam, recognized as one of the most vocal female members of the MDP, faced defeat in both Male’ and Addu City, as voters opted for a different direction in the party’s primary. The triumphant candidate, former footballer Ahmed Sharif, widely known as “Dunga,” emerged victorious in the race. Dunga, a former technical director of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), clinched the MDP ticket for the Feydhoo North constituency.
This loss marks a notable turn for Rozaina, who had previously served as the first female Member of Parliament from Addu City and in 2014 earlier she represented Thulusdhoo constituency.
