MALE’, Maldives —President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu reshuffled key cabinet positions today, re-appointing ministers to lead three major ministries. Dr. Abdullah Khaleel, previously the Health Minister, was named the new Foreign Minister, while Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim, currently the Minister at the President’s Office, was appointed as Health Minister. Moosa Zameer, who had served as Foreign Minister, will now take over as Finance Minister.

The reshuffled ministers received their letters of appointment from President Muizzu and were sworn in during a ceremony at the President’s Office.

Following the reshuffle, Dr. Mohammed Shafeeq, the incumbent Finance Minister, resigned from his post. This marks the first major change to Muizzu’s cabinet since he took office on November 17 last year.

Nazim, now the Health Minister, previously held the same position during the administration of former President Abdullah Yameen.
