MALE’, Maldives — The Maldives welcomed 1.18 million tourists as of July 14, 2025, a robust sign of the nation’s enduring appeal as a global travel destination, according to the Tourism Ministry. Of these visitors, 860,970, or 72.7 percent, chose the country’s signature resorts for their stay, while 264,348 opted for guesthouses, 32,441 stayed in hotels, and 25,783 selected safari vessels.
The ministry reported that the Maldives currently offers 64,401 tourist beds across 1,228 establishments. Resorts account for the largest share, with 44,047 beds in 175 properties. Guesthouses provide 14,882 beds across 878 locations, while 16 hotels offer 2,310 beds, and 159 safari vessels supply 3,162 beds.
At the close of 2024, the country had 1,271 tourism facilities with a total of 63,248 beds, reflecting a slight expansion in capacity this year.
The data highlights the Maldives’ appeal to travelers seeking varied accommodations, from resorts to cozy guesthouses and mobile safari experiences, all framed by the nation’s renowned hospitality and pristine, tranquil environment.
