MALE’ — The Ministry of Sports, Youth and Community Empowerment has officially launched a dedicated call centre operation, a structural move aimed at lowering bureaucratic barriers and improving institutional transparency for local sports associations and youths across the islands.
The communication facility was formally inaugurated by the Minister of Sports, Abdullah Rafiu, marking a shift toward automated public intake management within the ministry.
According to ministry officials, the establishment of the call centre is designed to provide direct, unmediated communication channels for the public. Historically, individuals and outer-island sports clubs seeking state funding, project updates, or facility allocations faced substantial delays navigating the ministry’s central communication system. The new system allows callers to bypass traditional administrative gatekeepers and route their enquiries directly to specific operational departments.
The service is structurally partitioned into standard and off-peak operational windows to ensure continuous accessibility:
-
Official Inbound Window: 08:00 to 14:00 on all non-public government working days, offering full routing to all departmental desks.
-
Off-Peak Coverage: The designated service number remains active outside conventional office hours and during official holidays to register urgent enquiries and log automated responses.
The ministry has publicised 3347300 as the centralized primary inbound dialling line for all public queries moving forward.
Institutional Accountability via Call Logging
Beyond merely handling higher call volumes, the infrastructure upgrade introduces a modern call management system intended to institutionalise civil service accountability.
Under the new operational protocol, every inbound communication is automatically logged, time-stamped, and tracked through an internal database. This system allows senior management to monitor response times, identify internal departmental bottlenecks, and prevent public enquiries from being left unresolved indefinitely—a frequent grievance levied against state institutions operating on legacy paper-trail systems.
