Maldives Reaffirms Support for Palestinian Statehood as Ambassador Dr. Zuhuree Presents Credentials

Newly appointed Maldivian Ambassador to Palestine Dr. Ibrahim Zuhuree has officially assumed his post after presenting his letter of credence to Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Varsen Aghabekian.

During the virtual ceremony, Ambassador Zuhuree conveyed greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Maldivian people to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the people of Palestine.

Highlighting the long-standing ties between both nations, Zuhuree expressed his commitment to pushing bilateral relations to new heights during his tenure.

The ambassador reaffirmed the Maldives’ unwavering diplomatic stance, stressing that Malé will continue to advocate for an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He added that the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people must be fully protected and upheld.

Minister Aghabekian welcomed Ambassador Zuhuree, thanking the Maldivian government and its people for their steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, while wishing the new envoy success in his diplomatic mission.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Dr. Zuhuree will serve as a non-resident ambassador based in Malé.
