President Muizzu Unveils Development Plan in 2024 India Visit

NEW DELHI — During the state visit on October 7, 2024, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu unveiled a 20-year National Development Plan to transform the nation into a developed country by 2040. In talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Muizzu emphasized social housing, trade expansion, and tourism, securing India’s support for security, technology, regional stability, and climate resilience.

The leaders explored cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, gender equity, and maritime security.

The visit began with a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed received a 21-gun salute and reviewed a Guard of Honour, hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi. Later, they laid a wreath at Raj Ghat, honouring Mahatma Gandhi, in a gesture of shared respect.
