Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim has thrown his support behind former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel in the Malé City mayoral race. In a post on X, Qasim said he fully endorsed Jaleel, describing him as a national hero with an unbroken record of service.

Qasim highlighted Jaleel’s role during the 3 November 1988 coup attempt, noting that he was among those who came forward to defend the country at a critical moment. Jaleel was later awarded the highest military honour for his service.

“Since then until today, he has always been ready for the country. He has performed his duties honestly in every job he has been appointed by every government. There is no stain on his back,” Qasim said.

He added that there is no candidate more experienced, trustworthy, honest or capable than Moosa Ali Jaleel. Qasim urged voters who want a diligent and far sighted Malé City administration to support candidate number 4.

Calling Jaleel an experienced figure respected across the political spectrum, Qasim appealed to all who trust his judgement to stand behind the former defence chief.
