The Presidential Youth Advisory Board has concluded its youth leadership workshop with 117 participants under the age of 30, delivering a full day of sessions focused on leadership, political awareness and the upcoming referendum.

The programme, held yesterday, centred on three core themes: Youth Leadership, Referendum Awareness and Youth in Politics. Organisers said the workshop received strong support and that its message was clearly communicated to all who attended.

In the Youth Leadership session, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of becoming a youth leader, including how to remain true to themselves throughout their journey and why every young person’s voice carries weight in national decision making.

The Referendum Awareness session focused on explaining what a referendum is, why participation matters and why young people should take part in the 4 April vote. Facilitators outlined how the outcome could shape the country’s future and discussed the benefits supporters associate with voting yes.

During the Youth in Politics session, speakers highlighted how opportunities for young people have expanded compared with previous years. They emphasised the government’s stated commitment to youth involvement and discussed how the political landscape has evolved.

The Board said the workshop aimed to equip young Maldivians with the confidence and knowledge to take part in national affairs, adding that the strong turnout reflected growing interest among youth in shaping the country’s future.
