MNU and Indian High Commission Mark 60 Years of Maldives–India Relations

The Faculty of Arts at the Maldives National University, in collaboration with the Indian High Commission, held a seminar to commemorate 60 years of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India.

Indian High Commissioner G. Balasubramanian attended as chief guest. Academics, students, diplomats and invited guests participated in the event, which also included a photo exhibition reflecting six decades of Maldives–India ties.

Speakers discussed key areas of cooperation that have shaped the relationship, including climate change, sustainable development, cultural and historical links, healthcare, food security, economic development, trade, education, human‑resource development, international relations and infrastructure projects. The High Commissioner highlighted the long‑standing people‑to‑people connections between the two countries.

The event concluded with cultural performances representing both Indian and Maldivian traditions.
