Villa College and the High Commission of India in Malé have held a joint academic symposium to mark 60 years of formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and India.
The event brought together diplomats, scholars, high school students, and undergraduates studying political science and international relations for panel discussions on the long-standing bilateral ties and cultural links between the two nations.
Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, G. Balasubramanian, inaugurated the session and took part in the panel discussions alongside students.

As part of the symposium, the High Commission set up a photographic exhibition showcasing historical moments in people-to-people relations and donated a collection of books to the Villa College library.
College officials noted that the initiative was led by Asna Ahmed, with support from Dr. Mohammad Shekaib Alam and the organising team, highlighting the vital role of educational exchanges and open dialogue in strengthening regional partnerships.
