President Muizzu Celebrates China-Maldives Partnership at National Day Event

MALE’, Maldives —At a reception marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu hailed China’s enduring partnership in the development of the country. Speaking at the event, President Muizzu emphasized the significance of key projects such as the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge, which he called “a symbol of our nations’ shared progress.”

President Muizzu extended his congratulations to the leadership and citizens of China on their National Day, praising the country’s resilience and work ethic that has propelled it to the forefront of the global economy. “China’s rise is a testament to its dedication and perseverance,” he said, underscoring the depth of the relationship between the two countries.

The president reiterated the strong foundations of the Maldives’ relationship with China, grounded in principles of trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to sovereignty, peace, and sustainable development. “Our ties go beyond infrastructure,” he remarked, pointing to the wide-ranging cooperation between the nations in areas like trade, tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy.

As the world faces challenges such as climate change, President Muizzu expressed optimism about increased collaboration between the Maldives and China. He concluded by voicing his confidence that the bond between the two nations will only grow stronger in the years to come.

China’s National Day, celebrated on October 1, commemorates the establishment of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
